Applying to a school can feel opaque. These are the questions we hear most often, and the best honest answers we can give. If something here isn't covered, the admissions office is glad to help.
01 · Getting started
Who should apply?+
Curious, capable students who want to be both challenged and known. We read every application with attention, but the clearest signal is a student who is genuinely interested in the work — and who can tell us, in their own words, why.
What grades do you accept applications for?+
We welcome applications for grades K–12. Most new students enter at the start of a school band — Lower, Middle, or Upper — though we consider strong applicants at any grade where a seat is open.
How do I begin?+
The application is online and takes about fifteen minutes. Tell us who you are, where you have studied, and a little about why you would like to join us. Once we receive it, a member of our office will be in touch.
Is there an application fee?+
There is no fee to apply. We want the first conversation to be about fit, not about cost.
02 · What we look for
What matters most in an application?+
The statement of interest. Grades and records tell us part of the story, but we are most interested in how a student thinks — what they notice, what they wonder about, and how they put a sentence together.
Do you require standardized test scores?+
We do not require them. If a family feels a score helps tell the student's story, they may include it. We never make a decision on numbers alone.
What about references?+
We may reach out to a current teacher or advisor as part of the review. We do this carefully and only with the family's knowledge. There is nothing to prepare — only honest people to speak with.
How selective is Veritas Academy?+
We are deliberately small. Each year we accept a limited number of new students — at present, 2 seats remain for Fall 2026. Decisions are made one at a time, by the people who will teach the student.
03 · The process
What happens after I submit?+
Your application is read by our admissions office, then by the faculty who would teach you. Some applicants are invited to a conversation — a quiet, unhurried meeting, in person or by video. There is nothing to study for.
What is the interview like?+
It is not an exam, and there are no right answers. We talk about what you like to read, what you are curious about, and what a good day of school looks like to you. Come as you are.
When will I hear back?+
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis once they are complete. Most families hear from us within a few weeks. We do not leave anyone waiting longer than we have to.
What are the possible outcomes?+
An offer of a place, a place on the waitlist, or a thoughtful decline. A waitlist is not a polite no — each year a few students are offered a seat from it.
04 · Practical matters
Is financial aid available?+
Yes. Need-based aid is awarded without affecting admission decisions, and families are encouraged to ask early. The conversation is confidential and begins with a simple form.
Can I visit before applying?+
We hope you will. A morning on campus tells you more than any brochure can. Visits are kept small and arranged through the admissions office — the best first step is a short application or a visit request.
What if I am not offered a place?+
It is not a judgment on a student's promise. Sometimes the fit is not quite right, or the seats are simply full. Families are welcome to apply again in a future year, and many do.
Can I apply again next year?+
Yes. A prior application does not count against you. We review every application on its own terms, in the year it is made.
